This is the simplest thing I've ever tried making and its virtually impossible to mess up. I didn't quite get the flavor I anticipated but I think I just need a different yogurt. (We used a double cream). Please comment below if you have advice on this. You a basically making greek yogurt. Its a thick spread that is leftover when you drain out the whey. By the way, don't throw this leftover liquid away. It is the starter for some amazing things, like butter.
So if you wanted to make your own cream cheese, here it is. Just leave it in there longer and it begins to thicken and somewhat harden into the texture of cream cheese. A bit longer, and you are making cheese! Roll them into small balls and place in a jar with olive oil and desired herbs. Enjoy later.
We liked ours as a labneh. Just spread it onto toast and add avo. DELISH.
