Muizenburg used to be a lot less appealing from what i hear, a place you didn't think of to go enjoy a beach day. Yet, lately, its got a lot to offer if you are looking for a fun beach bum day. You can rent a surfboard and wetsuit for an hour for 100 rand, get a lesson for a bit more, go eat somewhere like Knead, Tiger’s Milk, or Primi, go to the market near by, jump on the water slides next door, picnic, or swim. The water is much warmer than anywhere else in Cape Town and the waves are really beginner for new surfers. The water is shallow in general, so its nice for kids. There are shark spotters and flags if you are concerned with sharks. The restaurants and surf shops on surfer’s corner provide a nice backdrop opposite the shore. You can walk around barefoot and enjoy the day coming to and from the beach. Otherwise, there’s not much to do but if you are feeling like being outdoors, I think its a great destination. We go to surf and you get the vibe that most others do as well. If you just want to watch, that’s always fun too. Try a blended iced coffee from Tiger’s Milk.. its amazing. We also like the Surf Emporium for rentals. I’ve also noticed a lot of great volunteer work being done there; especially with kids and surfing. Google it and see if you can get involved.
My suggestions for meals at the restaurants mentioned would be:
Knead: breakfast, anything with their bread
Tiger's Milk: pizza, blended iced coffee, fried calamari, their beer
Primi: vit blitz cocktail, margarita pizza, pasta with gypsy ham
