Recently, I did a photoshoot with a friend, who was advertising for Lush, the handmade cosmetics company. Until then, I never knew much about the products except that my 15 year old cousin Cali loved them. Since the shoot, I have been nothing short of ridiculously obsessed with them. I watch their addicting videos on Youtube of how everything is made, I follow Lush and Lush South Africa on Instagram, which was so fun when they had the Creative Showcase in London recently.
Their brand not only creates colorful, almost works of art types of products, from bath bombs to scrubs to shampoo bars, but their philosophies are just as special. Everything is handmade, they thoroughly explain their ingredients and are transparent with what they use, which is mostly natural ingredients. They don't test on animals, and are just overall really creative with their products and their shops smell incredible. A few of their products are below, with my review. The prices are a bit high but it is worth it in terms of the quality you are receiving.
Ocean Salt- which I got a sample of, is really refreshing. You can use on your face and body- which is another perk of Lush products- they usually have multiple steps in one. I only used on my face because I love to exfoliate. You can taste the salt and it doesn't feel too harsh. You skin feels great after- like baby skin but not in a moisturized nor dry type of way. I'd give it a 3/5 because although its great, I don't know if I want to pay for the big tub yet.
Buffy bar is one of those products you can't believe you never knew about before. It washes, exfoliates, and moisturizes you, leaving you with the quickest, most effective shower routine you have ever known. It is prices but left my skin feeling like honey. This is because there is honey in it as well as crushed almonds and shea butter. You just pat dry once your rinse and you're good to go. Really addicting but I have to give 4/5 instead of 5/5 because it diminishes in size pretty rapidly.
Over and Over Bath Bomb is as fun as it is luxurious and satisfying. You run a bath, pop it in, and watch it fizz and create this beautiful bath art. The top is orange and a coating made from shea butter and underneath is yellow- infused with fennel, lime, and other yummy smelling oils. The bath turns orange and your skin feels slimy from all the moisture. You also feel moisturized when you get out. This one is a winner. 5/5
Maypole soap is the cheapest of all these products and has lasted me the longest. It was a gift for doing the photoshoot and I love to use this daily. It has coconut oil and gardenia (which is my all time favorite smell) and peppermint oil, so it is invigorating and moisturizing. I don't feel like I'm stripping my skin and I love to shave with it. Another 3-1 product that cuts your shower time way down. 5/5
Mask of Magnaminty was also a sample I tried from the shoot and oh man, its really good. Again, the prices are pretty damn high but worth all the fuss they go through. Just watch the videos. This mask tastes as good as it smells and feels- again, all natural product. Peppermint oil, crushed beans and seeds to exfoliate, and honey to moisterize (which is also antibacterial). I left on for a long time and liked that I could scrub while washing off. 4/5
Gershon and I tried these Creme de Menthe Mouthwash Tabs in the store, because we had never seen anything like it. You pop one in your mouth, add a sip of water, and it starts to fizz. Made with peppermint oil, its natural and does the job. Plus, its just fun. 4/5
So, those are the products I have tried thus far. Really want to try the shampoo bars, the dry shampoo, and the toothpaste powder. Until then, tell me what are your favorites!
